Caring for our community

What we do

Albany Community Hospice is more than a building; it is a philosophy of care.

Albany Community Hospice is an 8 bed in-patient palliative care hospital where patients receive person-centred care in a home-like environment. Our focus is on supporting people to live as well as possible on their palliative journey. We provide symptom management, end of life care and support, and work with patient’s GP and Care Team to develop a Care Plan for our patients.

We support our patient’s psychological, emotional and spiritual needs and those of their loved one and carers.

All patients receive a private room with ensuite and access to our gardens.  Rooms are equipped with seating for loved-ones and friends. There is a family room and kitchen facilities for carers and friends to ensure their time here is supported as much as possible.

Hospice is a not-for-profit private hospital and is not part of the public health system. We provide free care thanks to the outstanding support we receive from our community, local businesses and donations.

  • "Staff and volunteers are friendly and always there if you need anything. I have been taken care of very well which provides reassurance for my husband that I am in good hands. It gives me great comfort that my GP can visit to check up on me and that I can come back to Hospice should I need."
